Ok SO I am beeting my head against a wall here so I am going to post what I hope to do and HOPEFULLY some has had s8imilar experence and can help me.

First off this system will be a dual boot XP/ Linux system

I am posting from the XP portion now and I can Use Fedora but I can't get the dual head to work.

I am using a

d845pbt2 MB
2.53 p4
512 ddr
Gforce 5200 FX
120 GB SATA (this is an issue) drive partioned with 70GB for Windows and the rest will be linux
on board intel audio
MS KB and Mouse
Intel OB NIC

I connect through clark connect so I would like to create a mapped drive into the server to make accessing and saving files there easy

I want to use the dual head but when I do tnhat in linux it kills the install and I end up installing again and trying another config only to have it crap out again.

So I also want to have EASE of driver install if I should add other components later.

I am a relitive Linux No0b so EASE is key here..

I tried loading fedora core 3 and the SATA driver seems to be an issue.

I loaded core 2 and it loads but I have the driver issue with nvidia

which is the best to learn and use so that perhaps in a bit I will become mor eaccustomed to the command line and I can get the usubilty out of this system?

Thanks

Try ubuntu.

Well it makes it so a linux no0b like me can get it back 😉

I have been reading (what I do usually when I get confused) and I think that ubuntu is what I will try next

Simple solution (to what I'm GUESSING the problem is *hint hint* 😉):
cp /etc/X11 ~/X11.backup

If something goes wrong, login, and copy it back (as root).
