YAWDICT : Yet another what do i charge thread

Boss asked me to do some research and write up for him in my spare time, agreed to do so and of course didn't agree on a price before hand. It was just simple collection of data on Tablet PC's and writeup on basic inforamtion about them, what using one was like, and a collection of sites and articles about them. Simple stuff, took a while to do it (2 weeks) but only cause there were no stores around me that had a tablet pc in stock :frown: So anyways i only racked up maybe 10-15 hours of spare time on this, and was only going to charge like $10 an hour...

too little? too much? as expected?

 

If you're a salaried employee and you did this in your spare time, I would bill at ~$20/hr.

well...what is your normal hourly wage?

how much do you make at work now? id multiply that by 1.5 or 2 for a per-hour rate on it. at *least* that much anyway. you did it on personal time away from work.

it should be enough that either its worth it to you to do it again in the future if he asks....or it costs him so much that he can learn how to use google for himself.

wow i didnt know that was how it "worked"...I earn somewhere in the $20-$25 per hour range but then add in benefits and what not...I think I'll stick with 20....i wouldn't mind doing it again and thats plenty of $$ for what i put together...
