It has been over five years since I have been to Vegas but I'm starting to plan my return trip. I used to go every year for quite some time. In the past I always stayed at the Bellagio in one of the lakeview rooms. It seems that quite a few nice new hotels have opened up and I am considering trying them out.

Aria, Cosmopolitan and Wynn seem to be attractive options. While I plan on google-fu'ing to help narrow down my choices I figure you guys here can offer up solid advice.

Important details: Money is some object, but excepting $1k a night most anything is in play if worth the cost. Three guys. One married, one committed, one single. Late 20s/early 30s. Main focus will be gambling at night though clubs and bars will be of interest. Daytime focus is more open ended, but from what I gather pool time in October will be reasonable (80 degree temp, heated pools). Shows and the like are of little interest. Grand Canyon and the like will be for another non Vegas trip.

In the past most of my gambling was limited to Ceasar's or Bellagio as they were the nicest casinos to gamble at. The Wynn looks attractive but is pretty far from that area, whereas the Aria and Cosmopolitan are right in the heart of it. I have no problem staying at a nice casino with a beautiful room and gambling at another though proximity will be a factor.

So what say you? The more recent experiences you can share the better.

I love Aria, it blows Bellagio out of the water in terms of beauty. It's just so modern and nice. The beds are super comfortable, too. Caeser's was fine, just not as new as Aria.

I think the pit area at Bellagio is the biggest. None of the other casinos has as many craps tables. Bellagio is also has flocks of young ladies in short dresses walking through. It's great eye candy.

As for clubs, I don't really enjoy that, but I loved going to XS (I think it's at Encore?) The club opens up to the pool, so you get some cool night air.

Overall, vegas in October is beautiful. 70s - 80s, zero humidity, so it feels great.

You say you don't care about shows, but if you do, Cirque du Soleil (except Zumanity).

The shows I could go to, but I don't feel any loss from never having attended one in my previous trips.

The Aria rooms do look pretty nice, but the better ones only seem to have a king bed option and no double beds. I hope that couch is comfortable.

I don't even remember the couch in my room.

Didn't realize you were going 3 to a room.

Orleans had surprisingly comfortable beds. the 2 double bed room comes with a couch.

Rio rooms have a ton of room. I napped on a couch there, was fine.

But most hotels have a 2 bed option with rollaway available. The newer ones charge more for the 2 beds. Probably because they know that King = 2 people in room and 2 doubles/queen = 4 to 20 in room. I'd suggest browsing deal websites for hotel deals and figure out what price/location fits you best.
