Yet Another UCLA Thread..

Should I go for University Apartments? Are they really hard to get in? I'm going to be a junior transfer there this fall, and was wondering what my chances of getting in are? They're considerably cheaper than Residence Halls and Suites, and considerably roomier too with a lot more conveniences.

I went to check them out last year. Cheap but they look really ghetto. Besides you have to work once a week I think. Some rooms had piping running on the ceiling. You get what you paid. Check out De Neve at the UCLA dorm and the food there. That's one of the top 10 resident halls in the nation.

i would SERIOUSLY give living in the dorms a chance - i lived there for three years and loved it. i still work in the dorms at the front desk.

UCLA just bought another apt building so there will be some more spaces. you might not get a studio but there are usually openings in the two or three bedrooms.

the dorms is just a great atmosphere - meeting lots of people, lots of activities. the apartments and dorms, either way, will have a ton of noise.

the apartments are nice though - everything is provided except for food. super plus! (oh and pots and pans and all that jazz but still... you don't have to buy furniture! you don't pay for cable tv! you don't pay for electricity! internet access!)

Ooh, thanks for the reply!

But their website says: "Utilities (gas/electric/water) are included. Telephone service, cable T.V., and internet access are an additional charge and students must make arrangements for these services with a local vendor."

Still, a two bedroom place is still thousands cheaper than in a dorm...hmmm.

Whatever you get, be glad its not a delapidated apartment located south central.
