I just sent a package via UPS from Staples. Here's the latest crap:

We assume no responsibility or liability for damages to a parcel packeged by you; any such parcels that have been packed by you may be covered only for loss, not damage.

WTF? They can drive a truck over my package and tell me to get stuffed?!?!?! :Q

This is because a lot of people do a crappy job of packing (using no padding, etc). There was a guy who worked for UPS who posted here a long time ago. He worked the customer counter and always opened the person's package in front of the person to make sure the items were packed/padded well. I think his center had one of the lowest insurance damage claims in the area iirc.

Reminds me of that old BC comic where one of them was at the Post Office with a package, the Post Office guy says,

P.O. Guy: "Hey, what are you mailing that you marked it "FRAGILE?"

Mailer: "A rock."

P.O. Guy: "A rock, why the heck would you mark a rock "FRAGILE" to mail it?"

Mailer: "Hey buddy, I used to work for the Post Office too!"

"bio hazard" placard maybe an incentive for the workers to not damage your package.

Ah, but if you let them package it at "the ups store" and pay for insurance, then it covers damage... They started that crap here before they changed the name of MBE around here. Just another way to stick it to the little guy...

How about something more threatening, like "If contents in this package break, so does your nose" :D

Never had a problem.
