You are in a restaurant where you go to the counter and place your order, then you find your own seat. They bring your food to your table, but there is no further contact with the staff. If full service wait staff deverve 15 or even 18%, what is the appropriate amount for the tip jar at this counter?

Sizzler has an order-then-sit style. They still bring you your food after you sit. We tip the same.

So the difference between this and regular waiter/waitress place ? They don't come up to you to take your order. No big deal, the counter was where you walked in anyway.

You should tip the same as always.

We have a chain around here called Mancino's that is as you described. We place order up front, fill our own drinks, bus our own tables. All they do is bring our food to the table. No tip for that. If they DO fill your drinks and bus your table for you then tip accordingly.

Exactly.

Tip, but not as much as a Restauraunt.

In Cafes, I tip the silver I get back for a coffee (assuming it's not too much - I might keep a quarter or two) and a buck or two (CND $) if I get food, depending on how complicated the order is. But that's in a cafe, where the servers make the food too. If there is a kitchen sparate from the counter, I dunno what I'd tip. Probably less. Those kinds of places haven't caught on up here to the best of my knowledge.
