Hello all . . .
I looked up "TMJ" on the archives and found many helpful posts already on the disorder.
My story: for as long as I could remember, I've always had a popping in my jaw whenever I chew- no big deal I thought. Then, these last few days, sometimes I would awake in the morning with the left side of my jaw being slightly "locked" (feels like a joint is slightly dislocated)- so I can't fully open my mouth. But it would usually snap back into place by lunchtime. I figured I'd eventually go see a doctor/dentist . . .
Well- two days ago, I woke up again with my jaw slightly locked, but this time, I can't seem to get it unlocked! It's been stuck for over two days, and it's driving me nuts.
Did some research- found out it matches all the symptoms of TMJ. I have no pain at all (yet)- just discomfort from the joint feeling like it's out of place.
I'm scheduled to see my dentist tomorrow- but does anybody know how to get your jaw to "unlock"? Usually I just wiggle it around, and some magic spot would usually release it. But still- no go for me!
All help appreciated, thx!
edit: It's locked closed, not locked open. I can open my mouth about 75% or so . . . but beyond that, I can feel my joints in a weird position.
