YATT: Yet another tire thread

The beater needs tires before the snow starts to fly. I want all-seasons, so I don't have to worry about changing them again in the spring. I live in Wisconsin, so I will be driving in snow, slush, rain, etc...

Tires are for a '92 Ford Crown Victoria.

I just put a set of the new Bridgestone Potenza G009's on my Lincoln and they do a great job in the rain and such. Haven't had snow to test them in, but past Bridgestones have been good in the snow for me and the G009's are designed for all-season use with good siping.

This snow I speak of is cold, white, and a lot of fun. The only problem is that is slows down the drive to work, especially in a 4000lb, RWD sedan. 🙂

Looking at Goodyear Regatta 2. Anyone use these?

I just bought some Kumho Touring 795's (185/70R14) and they're doing fine. Haven't gotten to test in the snow yet, but they got good ratings and reviews. Bought them off Tirerack.com, $33 a tire. Adding shipping, installation, and all other charges, they came out to about $60 per; still cheaper than the local quote of $65 per before tax.

Touring or standard?[/quote]

I don't care. It's the "beater" car, so I just need whatever will get me though winter fine, and still be good in the summer / rain.

Not too pricey either.

I've heard they have terrible tire life (threadwear) on those....

i would say Toyo TPTs or Bridgestone's or Kumho's. (not sure for snow traction though)

I had 'em on my Accord for about 3 years. I wasn't too impressed with the wet traction. Sure lasted a long time even with my abuse tho.
