GF is moving tomorrow. She's curious if she needs to tip the movers and the apartment cleaning lady on Wednesday. Both parties 'own' their respective businesses; meaning they are not employees of a big company. Because of this, I want to lean towards no tipping (as each service isn't cheap...) but then again, maybe I'm an asshole.

Thoughts? It's a one bedroom apartment (well, kitchen, bathroom, bedroom, common area).

Cleaning lady? No

Movers? I "tip" them in the sense that I make sure that they have plenty to drink and I even get a pizza or some lunch for them if the occasion arises. Those guys are busting their asses and out of compassion, I try to make sure they are comfortable. Movers are expensive enough and don't need to be tipped with cash.

When we last moved we hired a moving company that charged by the hour. Well, they came in, collected our boxes and furniture, and then deposited them in our new place in 3.5 hours. I felt like I was stealing from these guys as I was getting away really cheap. I gave the three guys an extra $20, since I still felt like I was getting a very good deal.
