she was being fired because she violated a company policy banning workers from speaking disparagingly about customers and casting the restaurant in a bad light on a social network.

if that's a company policy, she shoulda been aware of it... and NOT used the company name.

welcome to the facebook age... where company policies like this are now required.

facepage rule # 23746: never bitch about work on facepage

of course, rule #1 is never update your status... status updates are a sign of weakness, insecurity and attention-whoring.

People still haven't realized this about Facebook?

If I owned a company I'd fired any employee who used that POS site at all. Fuck FB, fuck Farmville and fuck stupid hourly updates on what you're doing.

Sounds like they were looking for a reason to can her anyway. That being said, she gave them a pretty convenient one.

Seriously, Facebook should be considered a tool and not a toy. It can get you fired or worse. Nobody should post anything that they wouldn't want their worst enemies to use against them.

Oh, and I don't care about anybody's Farm, Fish, Mafia, Pirateship, etc. Fuck that noise.

youd think a woman who carries plates for a living would have the foresight to assume her employer would be monitoring her posts on a social networking site...

Why not both? Just adjust your privacy settings and make sure you don't post anything you don't mind others seeing. Seriously, go around and click on random people's profiles that are otherwise closed, and see how many have their photos wide open. Apparently that's partially facebook's fault, occurred by default the last time they did a major switch, but it's the users' job to stay on top of it.

People who bitch about how facebook screwed them are the same people who bitch about how it's the manufacturer's fault that they never changed their oil.

+1

It was North Carolina, you can fire women for refusing to give head, you might get stuck paying unemployment though.

Johnson says she has apologized to Brixx ...
Screw that! She should have continued to disparage the restaraunt. I think if the lusers on facepage had any brains, they would organize a movement to lash out at people and companies that suppress free speech on facepage.

Hey whaddayaknow. Saying something in a public forum about your job can get you in trouble with your job!
