was watching some poker last night on ESPN...looks like the winners of some hands will throw a few chips at the dealer for a tip after they win (especially after winning a big pot)...aren't those usually $500 or $1000 chips???

wonder how much those dealers make on tips for those WSOP events or any other big event...

anyway, I was just curious...how much would a class at the Pofessional Poker Dealer Institute would run?? mmmmmm....

In a tournament setting, you don't tip the dealer anything, since you're playing with tournament chips, not real money chips. If you are playing a real table game at a casino, like blackjack or poker or anything else, you should tip the dealer as you leave the table.

If it was a tournament it was more likely that they were throwing in the ante. If it was a cash game, players usually keep some low denom chips handy to tip the dealer/waitresses with.

i guess they could have the blinds...oo0opss

<---poker newbie😱

EDIT: actually, I do remember after one hand, the guy won, pulled the pot towards him and then threw a chips towards the dealer. The dealer than took chips and put them by her right side (near the the bumper of the table...I don't they would have done that with a blind...

I tip in poker after I win a pot, you can't always wait until you leave, because
often I've sat at a table and played through 4 or more dealers

Most of those tournaments will structure out where the buy in goes
for example, most goes to payouts, part goes to casino, part goes to tip dealers

in addition it's "customary" for the winner of a large tourney to tip the dealers. Hachem last year was called a cheapskate because he didn't.

but in Australia, where he's from, tipping is not very common.
