YATMoMVNOT: Ultra Mobile - $19/mo - 250 min, unlimited int'l txt, NOT unlimited data*

Ultra Mobile is a T-Mobile MVNO - let's get that out of the way up front. You all know what that means.

Anyway, here's the skinny - they just put out a new low-end plan as of today:

$19/month gets you the following -
250 voice minutes with overage billed at $0.02/minute
Unlimited GLOBAL texting
Unlimited 2G (128kbit) data with the first 50MB at 4G speeds
$1.25 in International calling credit (see website for rate details)

I know, 50MB of 4G data, woohoo. You can also purchase additional 4G data allotment in the following amounts on this plan:

50MB for $2.50
250MB for $5.00
500MB for $10.00

They also have an unlmited voice plan with the same text/data allotments for $29/month if you need more talk time on a regular basis.

They ride T-Mo, so native locked T-Mo phones should work fine. SIM cards can be had for $0.99 for TWO on ebay as opposed to the $10 through the website.

Unlike the LycaMobile offering, this is NOT promo pricing - this is regular pricing.

Just another option to throw on the fire.

Just like in the Lyca thread - this offers UNLIMITED data. Just because your definition of data service happens to include the terms "screamingly fast" doesn't mean this isn't still unlimited.

Let's avoid that argument in this thread, please.

With how slow 2G is, you would need an unlimited amount of it to actually do anything (seriously though, even simply browsing the web is a chore on 2G).

Fair enough though, I won't get into it here. Looking around online I guess the addition of unlimited texting makes it okay compared to similar priced plans.

Interesting. I might be able to save a few bucks. I still think their native $30 PP plan is a better deal in most cases. What I really need is a 200min, 1gb PP plan and that would cover me 95% of the time as long as I could do overages. I've been meaning to see if their 1900mhz hspa + rollout in chicago means its worth it as I don't have a 1700 mhz antenna.

I stand corrected. This plan does NOT come with unlimited data.

$19 and $29 Plans: These plans come with 50MB of 4G data, and do not have unlimited data afterwards. When your data is used up, mobile data stops working. With UltraUp, subscribers who want to continue using 4G data can buy 50 ($2.50), 250 ($5.00), or 500MB ($10.00) of additional data.

This was buried in their website, and even their little "plan recommendation tool" doesn't do it right, since if you ask it for the unlimited 128kbit data it will recommend the $29 plan. It may be an artifact for me of their webpage though, since EVERYTHING is recommending the $29 plan no matter what I select.

the no data after 50mb seems like a deal breaker, but then you realize even if it was unlimited data its not good for anything. after 1 hour of the new month, your 50mb is used and youre on 2g tmo internet. basically, you cant even stream 32kb audio.

BUT, ill say.. if you just need to talk and text- HOT DAMN! that .02/min is skype rates!! and with free texting, it can become cheaper then skype (10cents per text).

too bad its tmo towers! roaming doesnt even work right with a real tmo plan, i would bet its non existent with this new company

2g data is more than plenty for the basics: Web (as much as you might hate it, it's doable in a pinch for mobile), Email and navigation. Streaming of any sort is a luxury better left to wasteful top tier plans.

Is T-Mobile's "2G" faster than AT&T or Verizon? Cause I distinctly remember not being able to surf the web or search for places in maps or even a simple Google search on 2G/1x.

I find I usually use 3-500MB per month and could very easily lower that by conscientious usage. I would probably still need to purchase the extra 250MB but $24 per month beats AT&T.

I wouldn't know off hand to be sure. I'm still trying to find a decent yet affordable T-Mo phone so I can try out all these T-Mo MVNO's for myself.

Last thing I knew was that T-Mo's 128kbit throttling was really 128kbit, particularly with the MVNO's. You averaged between 100-120kbit and that's it. I remember a while back hearing that if you forced your phone to 2g/EDGE, often times you would actually get BETTER speeds than the throttled 3g/4g speed, sometimes upwards of about 300kbit.

Can you tell me about Solavei 4G plan how can I get it? Or is there any other plan on which I can work?
