yate loon or nexus

hello i'm interested in these 2 brands of 120mm case fans, which is the best for cooling? i care about noise, but its not big of an issue if its by 1 db or so

Someone here claimed they are identical, but you might try the forums at SilentPCReview.com to be sure.

These are low speed, so low airflow / cooling compared to noisier fans. I use one as an intake fan to add a lttile cooling to the hard drives in my server and it works well there.

Yate loons are faster, think they tend to run at 1400RPM or 1600RPM whereas the Nexus tends to run at 1000RPM. Yate loons can shift more air, but nexuses are probably going to shift enough anyway so the increase isn't nessisary.

by choosing these, your goal is most likely for quietness. i own a orange yateloon 120mm. it is identical to the nexus, except it spins at a slightly faster rpm. the yateloon cost 2 times more, however.

Nexus are selected Yate Loons with a dropping resistor installed to make them quieter. Neither put out enough air for my taste. Go to the Cases & Cooling section and check out some of the fan threads that are already there for enlightenment.

OP, this post should be in C&C.

IIRC, you are using a P4 3.2=a toaster CPU ( I have a P4 3.4e).

A Yate Loon at 12V is not going to cut the mustard for intake duty. It might if your room is
at 20C year round. I'd be looking for 70cfm intake on a fan controller, software or hardware.

a yate loon at 12V is MORE than enough intake, i'd recommend cutting the grills as they are usually restrictive and can impede airflow. Also, if there are any fliters make sure to keep those clean or take them out all together because they can be even more restrictive.
