Why have plasma conduits on the bridge at all? Isn't electricity good enough for those systems?

they have so many red shirts that they need plenty of ways to kill them off

During WWIII the technology used to build non-explosive control consoles was lost, along with the ability to build projectile weapons that would have circumvented the borg personal shields.

They must have lost the ability to produce circuit breakers.

While we are at it....why does everything magically work better once the polarity is reversed!?

I never got how <insert enemy here> could take control of the ship from a bathroom if they wanted.

One of the most absurd things I remember from the series was in the episode rascals where a few ferengi manage to take over the ship. If ~5 enemies with no special abilities manage to take over the federation flagship that has a 1,000 member crew something is wrong.

It's also hard to believe that random ships from societies no one has never heard of before have no problem going up against the Enterprise in a fight. It would be like a Nimitz class aircraft carrier being taken out by some Somali pirates.

The short answer to all of the problems listed in this thread is lazy writers

I disagree. If there was ever a time for that picture of that guy with the "because aliens" text, now is that time.

Because aliens is the answer.

In the future, using low-power in control surfaces is illegal due to the Klingon monopoly on the Rare-Qo'noS ("Kronos") metals used in high-power plasma conduit relays.

I made that up to parallel our Chinese relations in regards to Rare-Earth metals.

Plasma conduits are more effective than trasmission of AC using copper wiring due to losses induced by the skin effect.

Send the pure plasma energy to where it is needed and convert on the spot to power. Come on guys stop thinking 21st century.
