yeah, it's comparing apples to oranges, so shoot me.

now that lance has won seven straight, which of these three do you think is the greatest in the current generation??? imo,

MJ > Lance > Tiger

i know Lance had to overcome cancer (and probably no one will ever hit eight straight), but MJ's dad died :p, plus MJ was out two years trying baseball and he help put Nike on the map!! Tiger is great, but you know my position on golf...:p

'86 slam dunk contest - MJ dunk from the free throw line :Q:Q

Lance owns them all. MJ was good, but winning the TDF is a hell of a lot more taxing than winning a basketball game. Obscure sports like swimming, triathalons, cycling, etc generally have the toughest m'fuggers alive.

Lance > Tiger > MJ.

at this point, Tiger with 4 Major Wins in 1 year and setting the COURSE RECORD FOR EACH WIN, by itself qualifies him as one of the greatest ever, the other 4 majors he's won puts him in elite company of 3 or 4, the fact that he still has 10 to 15 yrs left in his career = Greatest golfer ever.

Lance, no point in saying, it's obvious.

MJ, it is arguable Wilt, Magic, Oscar Robertson all are in the same class as MJ. i'd take Wilt, Magic or Big O over MJ any day.

Lance owns nothing, he wasn't even the greatest in his respective sport. And I believe the thread has nothing to do with toughness. MJ and Tiger can do it all in their sports. I chose MJ.

how is Lance not the greatest? you talk as if he isn't even in the discussion which is ludicrous.

he might not be the greatest in your opinion, but only the stupidest of stupids would claim that he ranks in the top 2 or 3 ever.

again, i wasn't arguing whethor or not he was the greatest. i was just saying your dismissive tone, that lance doesn't even belong in the discussion is patently stupid and your link does nothing to disprove that thought at all.

or did you just completely ignore the part where i said he clearly ranks in the top 2 or 3 ever.

You said, "only the stupidest of stupids would claim that he ranks in the top 2 or 3 ever" Please show me where there is any clarity in that sentence, maybe if you weren't throwing out insults and actually read my link you would notice that if Lance Armstrong is the second best cyclist ever, its an extremely distant second. His resume doesn't come close to what Merckx accomplished, especially winning multiple races in one year.

so let me get this straight, a distant second means he's actually 4th?

yes, it's brutal. not debating that. but it's for three weeks, bball lasts for eight months and it's brutal running a full court press, unless you don't play ball you don't know how tough that is.

and Lance trains for mostly TDF, not other races. i included him b/c seven "straight" is a very admirable feat!

I agree with everything, except I'd take MJ over Wilt.
