So, I picked up one of those little "5-Hour Energy" bottles that they have at 7-11.

It contains 100mg of ascorbic acid and... sodium benzoate.

Of course, I forgot to check.. until after I drank the bottle.

I fscking give up. Christ.

:frown:

This is stupid.

Shouldn't the FDA not approve such a thing if it poses such a health risk to people?

I've pretty much given up on all energy products, I did see a commercial for this product and was wondering about it.

I have a bad stress problem when I drink those energy drinks any more I get really bad anxiety attacks so I am tending to stay away from such things.

Right, it should be done away with.

I drank 1 of those 5-hour energy things and got the worst upset stomach of my entire life. I was on the can for the ENTIRE WEEKEND (Friday night -> Sunday Night). I had to take Monday off, I think it was Tuesday before everything calmed down. Ugh.

The FDA does not serve America. It serves lobbyists.

One of the drugs they "approved" gave my mom heart troubles before. :ubermad:

My Monster energy drinks don't have any sodium benzoate. They do have sodium citrate and sodium chloride.

Monster gave me a stomachache as well. Caffeine really irritates the stomach.

Well you are not dead yet! I am going to die of something, I may as well go down drinking things I like.

Are you on a crusade or something? I can just picture you at the lunch table at work reading everyone's labels.

I've given up searching nutrition labels. Its just too friggen hard, one day its one chemical, the next day its another. If it tastes good, its most likely bad for your health. I hate trying to tip toe carefully through life.
