So I was half watching the Discovery Channel and they were doing a segment on Islam, and something caught my ears. This one lady, a born Christian, from Texas was converted when she was in college, and what she said intrigues me; basically she said "I started questioning the beliefs of the religion (Christianity), that if Jesus Christ was God, then why does he worship himself?", and that's what converted her to Islam.

Now, I don't know what makes her chose Islam, but I think it might have something to do with the "One God". Is that any better? What's your take on it?

Why not just ditch the deities altogether? She doesn't believe in Zeus or Ra, right? Why dismiss them?

i've never understood why it's socially acceptable to refer to the greek and roman gods and goddesses as "mythology" but people get bent out of shape if someone implies that their own god does not exist.

Maybe God is a quark. Those things can apparently exist in multiple states at the same time, or something like that.

Is that like one of those all for one and one for all thing, kinda like three for one deal at the supermarket? What I don't get is, where does the punching comes in, coupons?

He's also a bit schizophrenic considering he was praying and talking to himself all the time

Oh, and his disciples were not praying to him, while if he is indeed one of the three one true gods... uhm... nevermind, you're just meant to blindly believe, and not to question anything or refer to something as heretical as 'logic' or 'common sense'!

im willing to bet that she was brought up as a christian and was essentially brainwashed into religion in the first place, and that if she realized that and read either one of those holy books fully, from start to finish, shed say "holy crap, what the hell?!" a lot and not care about either one of them.

thats what i did with the bible, anyway. *shrug*
