So I have a (seemingly) great prospective tenant for a condo rental. He just arrived in the US 3 days ago from the UK, to follow a job. This is *NOT* a Nigerian scam, he's a Verizon-Guy lookalike from London who I've already met in person when he came for a property showing and rental application.

Unfortunately, very little of the info in my application applies to him (no SSN, US credit history, etc). Here's what I've come up with so far:

- copy of passport
- copy of work visa
- Offer letter from employer, including start date and salary

Is there anything else I need from him besides this? Is there any resource to do a UK background/credit check?

That's a given for any lease... I'm talking about stuff to establish a background for him having no prior US history.

wow I defintely would NOT deal with a foreigner if I was going to be renting out a place. Sorry but with all of the scammers out there, it's just not worth it.

Even though I don't see how you could really get "scammed" per se, I would still pass.

I've already met him in person yesterday to show him the property. Nice enough guy. Apparently he accepted a job at a lab at the local hospital 5min from the property. That much seems easy enough to confirm thru their HR department.

CL is one of the many ways I've advertised the property, why? This isn't a Nigerian scam, the guy is already in town and has seen the place and took an application with him.

Does he have a daughter that is going to school in Nigeria that is going to be renting your place? Beware!

So I just got off the phone with HR for the hospital, he is in the system with a 9/1 start date. At least employment is confirmed now.
