I currently live in a 2 bedroom/2 bathroom apartment with two other people. I have my own single, which is the smaller room, and the other two guys share the master bedroom. Our rent is currently $1490 per month.

Before we moved in, it was agreed that I'd pay half of the rent for my room and that they would split the other half between themselves. Now that I think about it, this doesn't make any sense to me at all and I think I'm getting ripped off.

In reality I think we should all split the rent equally, but to try and make peace and smooth things over I agreed to pay $50 extra per month since I have my own room. They are a little upset that I didn't bring this up beforehand, and said they would think the whole thing over. Do you guys think what I'm asking is fair? I just don't think it's right for me to pay $750 for a room that's smaller. I mean I'm paying double what everyone else pays for a smaller room, just doesn't make sense to me.

I have agreed to pay $100 more because I am a single person and have a room all to myself. I think this is fair. Their rent only goes up $75. If they don't agree to pay, then I'm going to move out. This is a matter of principle to me to be honest.
