Note: The MAX tours only appear in the United States version of the game, not
the Japanese.
Note: These tours are hard, almost impossible. You will not win ONE of them
the first time you try. If you're the kinda person who throws their
controller against the wall when you reach a particularly frustrating
part of a game, stay away from these tours. You're controller costs
10 times as much to replace now. For those of you stupid or insane
enough to wanna go ahead, all I can offer you is a wish of good luck and
these vague tips:
1) Try your best to keep up. Easier said then done by far, I know, but
if you're 10 seconds behind the lead car on the final lap, you're not
gonna win.
2) Use boost to get around cars. These cars have unlimted boost, and
sometimes they can rocket off with no boost at all. As soon as you
boost, the others most likely will too. This is where Tip #3 comes in.
3) Block. Use your rear-view mirror. Once you get past a car, it will
try anything and everything to get by you again. If you block it,
you'll get its speed which will help you with Tip #1.
4) Balance the boost. Try to use as much as you can to keep up and pass
the other guys, but make sure you have 3 full tanks on the final lap
with the finish line coming up. You'll most likely be racing the lead
car by then. Use your boost to get by him a little bit from the
finish line. He'll fire off boost and will try to pass you. Keep
firing off your boost as soon as the previous tank is empty. Then,
Tip #3 his ass if he trys anything funny.
That's not much I'm afraid. There isn't some special secret that will
let you blow by the competition; it's basically pure luck more then
anything else. Some races you have a chance, and some, even if you do
everything perfect and break every course record, you don't. Try these
tips and stay at it, and eventually you will be Ridge Racer champion!

tours of maximum difficulty. The first Max Tour, "Opus 1," is the ultimate
4-car battle of Class 1 machines. Only 1 in 200 is expected to clear this
challenge. There are no prizes, race for your honor!
Race 1: Seaside Route 765 [R] (Finish 1st to advance)
Race 2: Diablo Canyoun Road (Finish 1st to advance)
Race 3: Sunset Drive [R] (Finish 1st to clear tour MAX 40)

The second Max Tour, "Opus 2," is the ultimate 4-car battle of Class 2
machines. Only 1 in 300 is expected to clear this challenge. There are no
prizes, race for your honor!

machines. Only 1 in 1500 is expected to clear this challenge. There are no

Unlocks: 1 in 2000? Some lotteries have better odds... and they actually
give you something, unlike this tour.
The sixth Max Tour, "Opus 6," is the ultimate 4-car battle of Class 6
machines. Only 1 in 2000 is expected to clear this challenge. There are no
prizes, race for your honor!
Race 1: Sunset Drive (Finish 1st to advance)
Race 2: Crystal Coast Highway [R](Finish 1st to advance)
Race 3: Crimsonrock Pass (Finish 1st to clear tour MAX 45)

MAX 46: NE PLUS ULTRA
Class Special
Unlocks: That feeling of accomplishment that you've beaten everything
Ridge Racer has to offer. Yeah I know, pretty crappy for a final
prize, but ya gotta look at the bright side.
The last Max tour is the ultimate 4-car battle of Special Class machines.
Only 1 in 20000 is expected to clear this challenge. So difficult, that
even the best players in the development team were only able to clear it
twice within 60 days. The achievement will equal that of climbing
Mt. Everest. Race for the ultimate honor!
