::sigh::

HR Girl: "Can you call our software support guys and ask them what's wrong with our vacation accruels?"

Me: "Well, what's wrong with them? "

HR Girl: "Well, one company has accruels coming from another company, it's not supposed to do that."

Me: "Can you explain a little more?"

HR Girl: *Goes on to explain what's going on, where she enters this from, pulls out her employee record book showing what the accruels should be, ect. ect. ect.

Me: *blinks* "Well, since you know exactly what the rates are supposed to be, you have the book with correct values, are the one that actually set them up, and you will be the one that has to change them, wouldn't it make more sense that you call the software guys and they can help you out and walk you through what needs to be changed?"

HR Girl: No. Just call them and see if they know what's going on, and if they need to talk to me, just transfer them over to my extension.

Me: *sighs, and drowns worrys in a mountain dew*

I'm sure many of you can relate. :frown:

So far this morning I've added 5 paragraphs of text to a webpage and asked one guy if he still wants me to set him up with a user account on the new webserver.

I would've pointed out that you are not in fact her secretary and she can have her secretary do that for her. If she would've pushed that further, I then would have picked up her phone, called the number and in 30 seconds or less explain to the software guys why they need to talk to her.

Otherwise call the software guys, screw up the message relay and add some features that would be annoying to them and pass it along.

Sorry, there is delegation of authority and then there is writing a blank check to soemone who has no clue what the problem is nor should they be concerned about the problem because its not there problem nor related to it.
