I don't follow basketball but with the small bits I seen I thought he retired already with so much coverage on Bryant and Lebron.

his numbers aren't the best, but his contribution to the sport was international appeal - something that has succeeded wildly. he was a large part of that success, so my answer is "maybe"

with all due respect to yao, if he gets in, its mainly for reasons of economics and potentially politics. The guy was injured waaaaay too much

Yao Ming a Hall of Famer? Wow. I've heard some dumbass questions before. He's not even remotely close to that level.

i don't know shit about basketball, so i'll say yes. he's really tall, chinese, 8-time nba all-star, and... yeah, that's about it. it appears as though he's very good at what he does.

basketball hof isn't just on the court performance. it's not an NBA hof either, so his international career can also be considered.

he's probably a basketball hofer. if he'd have had a similar career but for baseball, no, he's not a hofer.

when healthy he was the best center in the league.

Seriously?

after shaq went on the decline? yes. he constantly schooled dwight howard. much better handling the basketball than either of them ever have been. and a clutch free throw shooter.

y'all voting nay on yao are racists. ;)

Even if he wasn't "the best player", he's got a pretty good personality compared to the rest of the chumps who were only in it for the $ and fame.
