last time they got no hit was 1958 in baltimore
highlights include:
astros starter roy oswalt leaves after 1 inning after re-aggravating his groin pull
astros use 6 pitchers total for the no-hitter, most in MLB history
octavio dotel strikes out 4 batters in the 8th inning
8 of yankees' last 9 batters strike out

😀

Must have been an extraordinarily boring game.

not really, yanks loaded the bases in the 3rd and posada grounded out... lots of astros goodness, some great web-work

could spell the end of the yankees as we've known them the last 10 years. i expect steinbrenner to go for some major changes if the yankees don't have a REALLY strong showing in the playoffs.

Yeah, people have been saying that for the last 100 years now.

What a great night. Poison puts on a KICK ASS concert, 10th row seats, the Yankees get embarassed at home, and the Red Sox blow out St. Louis to re-claim first place! Can't really ask for anything more on a Wednesday night!

For those that missed the game, like me, and want to record this for posterity, the YES network is replaying the game at 11:30pm.

:beer::beer::beer::beer: for the Houston Astros and Jimi Williams.

Bold is my emphasis. Octavio is the 44th pitcher to strike out 4 in one inning. wowowow. My initial thought was that was more frequent than the number of perfect games pitched. BUT then I starting thinking about it.

there are far fewer opputunities for perfect games than for 4 K's, by about a factor of 9 (9 innings per game). so 44/9 = 4.9 < than the 14 (or is 15) perfect games that have been pitched.
