There's no doubt Sheffield can hit, he'll hit when he's 90 years old. But the Yankees had no place for him once they got Arbeu, and he was starting to become a headache again.
Yankees got some good pitching prospects back for him. Good trade.

If its one thing the yankees need its young pitching. I am happy. If its one thing they don't need its a soon to be 38 year old power hitting outfielder. Tigers should be happy too...he is good for 30+ hr and 100+ rbi assuming he is healthy.

Nice job by Cashman. You don't know if the prospects will pan out but you take chances like that. On top of that Sheff is such an annoying big mouth though he does put up the numbers. Yanks don't need his bat as they have enough offense but they do need better pitching so many those kids turn to something good for them.

Nice trade.

Even though he was a pain in the butt for the Yanks, I liked his attitude. His production didn't hurt either. I'll miss his 500 foot foul balls though.

Amazing trade for the Yanks.

Sheffield was replaced and a cancer.

Id rather have Abreu in that lineup than 38 year old wrist surgery recovering malcontent Sheffield.

I'm sorry to see the Tigers give up Humberto Sanchez. He was the Minor League Pitcher of the Year this year, but developed forearm tenderness right at the end of the season that kept him from being called up in Sept. and maybe working his way into the World Series.

I have no doubt Leyland will cure Sheffield's attitude problems or he'll be gone.

Good move for the tigers. Sheff sounds like he wants to be here. Hes played for Leyland and Dombrowski so he knows the deal. He won't have to play 1st base. The fans here will love Sheff. I think he can still hit 25-30 home runs. Losing Humberto Sanchez isn't too big a deal. Tata and Miller are better prospects.

Nice job by Cashman on the Sheff deal...Sanchez has a heck of a lot of potential.

Cash put through another deal yesterday, sending Jaret Wright + $4 million to the Orioles for Chris Britton. The Yankees essentially got Britton for nothing, since it was going to cost $4 million to buy out Wright's contract anyway.
