Talk all you want about the $$$, but at the end of the day any sports fan would LOVE to have GS as their teams owner.

He does what other owners dont. Put money BACK into the team instead of INTO his pocket. He isnt breaking any rules, and there are other owners with more money than George and the same TV contracts and same great fans, who decide instead to profit rather than win. The money argument is old, and its tired.

That l/u is sick though. Cano was 3rd in the batting title race and batting 9th!!! YIKES

Um...no one has the same TV contract as George. The only way to fix baseball is a salary cap and revenue sharing.

There already is revenue sharing. Yanks pay a luxury tax to smaller market teams. What do these small market owners do? Lose 100 games, and pocket the money they get from the teams that actually turn a profit.

Everyone knew it was coming... even Pedro in his youth would have trouble putting all those batters away.

Id rather not find out.

<--- Still has nightmares about that 1 hit 17k game against the Yankees.

I get nightmares about the 6+ ERA nobodys going up against the Yankees and pitching nightmares.

Every Yankee in that lineup has be voted to the all star team at one point.
that is bullshiat.

Why should steinbrenner cut back? He isnt breaking any rules. Steinbrenner is supposed to feel pity for the Royals, so say "hey we wont sign good players this year so you guys have a chance" thats complete BS. It is a business. You think Walmart would purposely stop making money so Kmart can do better???? NO
Sports leagues aren't run like a pure business. If MLB was, teams would die off and/or freely relocate to the tri-state area tomorrow to benefit from the enormous pool of money sitting there. There are smaller cities that've been in baseball for a long time and deserve a place in the game. The NFL, while immune to some of this, still have managed to keep a city like Green Bay a viable place to have a franchise.

For those of you that say the Yankees (not Steinbrenner, he's not 100% owner) spend too much, read this article:

Now, baseball math is fuzzy, as the article suggests, but money lost somewhere is still lost.
