Woolfe,

I said my piece. Events have proven my contention. Have a great night.

If you watch "La Brea" tonight, tell me what you think.

The small minority of bernie bros that voted for Trump were idiots. But it's amazing to blame Hilary losing just to them. Let's excuse the decades of Republicans smearing her, or using Congress to blow up Benghazi, the media coverage of fucking emails, or any of the millions of other things that unfortunately tainted her as a candidate, or the polls saying Trump had little shot so people stayed home on election day, and when she was basically made the anointed one by the Dem leadership even though her negatives were huge. I voted for her happily and felt emotional to vote for a woman for president who I thought was competent, but to just blame Bernie Bros for her loss is stupid and complete DINO land. Let's ignore everything else, it's all the progressives fault.

Unbelievable.

Woolfe:

Wikipedia is poison to me. I taught essay writing in business colleges for five years. After several warnings, I would give an "F" to any student who dared to use Wikipedia as a source.

Because there are several legitimate academic sources that employ real researchers who do their own work. And I listed them on the blackboard in every class.

As a teacher, laziness appalls me.

Everyone else:

Bernie Bots were all tough on FB and other social media in 2016 and 2020. But when people on the Left needed them to vote with Dems, they often defect. Just as they are destroying Biden's nascent administration right now.

I've always maintained that Progressives cannot be trusted. They are just overgrown kids who think the world should be handed to them. Absent of any real achievements, I beg to differ.

They are not going to get their way with a $3.5 trillion dollar bill. And their stubbornness is going to cost the Democratic Party big time. But I suspect that is what many of them want.

The thing about Progressives is their rage. They are quick to lash out, curse and condemn those who disagree with them. Their thin skin is comical because it gets them nowhere and identifies them as spoiled children.

We Black people have little to learn from Progressives since so many of you detest us. (Black people need to be polite to police - Bernie)
Wikipedia lists sources. Only a fool would completely dismiss Wikipedia. A fool incapable of going more than one link deep into research.

Your account screams "crotchety old white guy pretending to be black."

Rightfully so, if they don't have the damn sense to just use whatever the cited source in Wikipedia was. But calling Wikipedia "poison" is plain ol' stupid and lazy.

LOL, you have no idea how many of those "Bernie Bots" on social media were actual voters, and how many were trolls. It's lazy thinking to believe that's a realistic source of data.

You maintain that progressives can't be trusted, we instead need to trust old guard democrats who never really actually change all that much, and constantly bend over to take whatever the GQP is willing to shove in them. Pardon those of us who've grown up with this nonsense for decades wanting a party that actually DOES something for the people, rather than just yet another grand corporate and already-wealthy giveaway, and maybe the occasional finger-wag at bad actors.

If we ever abolish the electoral college system, the more third parties the better. The electoral college is the ONLY reason for the existence of either the Democratic Party or the GOP. Frankly it has been a plague on system since the beginning. But the electoral college is essentially the only reason the GOP still exists so they will fight any constitutional amendment full force.

Under the present system, the only thing a Yang party will do is help Trump in 2024. Good intentions but horrible idea in practice.

If the electoral college is the only reason we have two dominant parties, why are parties relevant in other elections that are not governed by the electoral college?

Any first past the post voting system is going to devolve into two parties. There isn't necessarily anything inherently better about multiple parties or just two parties - the biggest difference really just comes down to when collations for government are formed: after the election or during the primary process.

The reason we regularly devolve into just two parties has nothing to do with the electoral college. IMHO the reason is that we chose not to have a parliamentary form of government (like most other democracies). Our elections are pretty much "winner take all" affairs in which finishing second is bad (try harder next time) and finishing third or fourth is virtually meaningless. Parliamentary elections most often end with no party gaining an absolute majority, and so the need to form a majority government through alliances with smaller parties gives them real relevance.

And more in line with the original topic, I understand that Yang supports ranked choice voting which seems like an interesting idea.

Oh, really? I don't see a full Socialist agenda. I don't see a President Bernie. I have not been wrong repeatedly.

Many Progressives have proven to be just as nasty, bullying and sometimes as racist as Trump supporters.

Yup, I've said time and time again that if you claim to not like "Wikipedia" all you are really doing is saying you don't like it's sources. Go check the sources. They are right there at the bottom. You can link to most of them.

We better hope he doesn't run independent or third party in 2024 because he'll siphon more votes from D than R.
Maybe we'll get lucky and he'll have the party official positions include these -
unmarried women aren't legally allowed to say "no"
you must genetically test at least 75% European white to classify as a person
replace the Constitution with the Bible (but only the parts we like)
and science is reclassified as witchcraft.
In that case he'll siphon off like 90% of the current Trump voters.

My post stands. Only lazy Writing students jump to Wikipedia.

Which is why they got an F. Because I demanded source citations.

It's not as if they had to figure out informational websites for themselves. I listed them on the blackboard for every class. I also bought Thesaurus' for my students because most did not have significant income.

And we discussed every essay in class beforehand, carefully listed the Pros and Cons of positions with sub-topics or short phrases. Then brainstormed the sentences for each. By the time the discussions were over, essays were practically written.

Then it was up to my students to choose a position (most already had) and create paragraphs, a lead-in and then a conclusion. By the time the class was over, they were doing this by themselves.

There was no need to go to Wikipedia. Which at the time, was edited by a couple of White guys who simply re-wrote what others had researched. I constantly exposed the racism of these re-writers who refused to tell the truth or minimized the greatness about Black historical figures.

If you had been a Writing teacher and compared some content on Wikipedia with that on encyclopedia and history websites, you'd know what I am talking about.

Wikipedia is for lazy people. And if you were lazy in my class, you got punished for it.

What the hell are you talking about, a president Bernie?

The fact is you misrepresented his position on the price tag of the big bill and cited articles showed that you were wrong. You completely misrepresented the 3.5T bill as only a desire of the progressives, ignoring that all but 2 Democrats in both houses would vote yes on it in an instant.

You solely blame progressives, which you also wrongly conflate them all as Bernie Bros, as responsible for Hillary's loss - ignoring decades of Republican attacks and media obsession that made her a highly flawed candidate with tons of perceived negatives, and a lackadaisical consensus among many that there was no way Trump could win anyway.

You ignore all that and continue your shite narrative that it's all progressives fault.

The fact of progressives are a big part of the party, over 40% of the house democratic caucus are progressives.

If you want to be a moderate democrat, act like it. Don't use Republican talking points.

Sure. The end of it is you have been exposed to deny the facts as presented quite clearly. You have such a hard on for progressives you create your own alternate reality.

It's Trumpie like. It's what Trumpers do the best. You may not like Trump, but you have that in common with them.

This isn't your class. Here, you don't get to apply your pedagogical standards to determine what is true and what is not true. Imbedded in that text, and in its footnotes, are numerous links to exit polling data and other surveys. I don't need to separate them out for you. My response was more than sufficient to rebut certain claims you made which were backed by no sources at all. Hilarious that you get to criticize the use of Wikipedia when you used nothing. Nada.

So, for example, you claimed that Sanders-Trump voters tended to be young. Based on what, your personal observation of people you happen to know? I certainly hope that isn't how you would teach students about how things are proven. When we're talking about reality on a population scale, personal observations are anecdotal and hence irrelevant.

And we discussed every essay in class beforehand, carefully listed the Pros and Cons of positions with sub-topics or short phrases. Then brainstormed the sentences for each. By the time the discussions were over, essays were practically written.

Citing no sources at all is for intellectually dishonest people. The world is not a certain way just because you say it is.

I am 100% on board with the Sinema hate as she’s useless to the party and should be primaried. Manchin is the single most valuable senator in the Senate to Democrats though.

West Virginia was an R+Thirty-Fucking-Nine state in 2020. If you can name a single democrat other than Manchin who is winning there I’d love to hear it. If you don’t have one, then the answer is either Manchin or Majority Leader McConnell.

I agree with you from the standpoing that he is better than a republican. However, 80% of West Virginians support the $3.5 Trillion bill. This bill is insanely popular. Any politician opposing it is doing so due to pressure from their donors, not their voters.

I agree on Manchin being a unique force in WV, however he is still an asshole, just a necessary asshole, for now. But let's take the 3.5 trillion dollar bill. He is against giving seniors dental, hearing and vision insurance as part of Medicare. That is something he could take back to his constituents, of which many are old, and say look what we did for your well-being. He is just against it because he is a dick. I mean let's take a look at his daughter - famous for heading the company that makes the Epi-Pen and jacking the price up an insane amount. The apple didn't fall far from the tree here that's for sure.
