I'll just get straight to specs I'm looking at right now.

Asus P5W DH Deluxe
Intel Core 2 Duo E6600
OCZ Platinum Rev. 2 2GB DDR2 800
Western Digital Raptor 150GB
Samsung SH-S182D
Lian Li PC-7B Plus II
Corsair HX520w

As you can see, I haven't decided on a video card yet. I have the money for a 7950GX2 but I'm thinking I may wait for the 8800GTX. Should I?

I don't plan on SLI/XF and I want to overclock. Is there anything that overclocks as well as the P5W DH Deluxe but is maybe a little cheaper?

I was also wondering what heatsink I should get. I want to overclock quite a bit, so it needs to be pretty heavy duty.

Lastly, what are the PC-7B Plus II's fans like? I may consider replacing them with something that moves more air or is quieter.

Thanks

The top overclocking boards are the GA-965P-DS3 and the P5B variants.

You won't be able to utilize DDR2-800 memory with an E6600.

What memory do you suggest? I'll get a P5B, but what are the benefits of the different variations?

Sorry, I don't know what I was thinking when I said that.

9x400 = 3600MHz, I think a lot of E6600 chips can hit that, but if that's about as high as you want to go, DDR2-667 should be able to OC to that point as well.

No idea about the mobo differences.

P5WDH will be easy to hit that. Especially now that they are learning the bios and with an mch that hits 1.8v. Check out my post on Conroe builds it provides some good understanding of which boards are best.

There is no need to get a P5B for E6600 unless you plan to hit 430+ fsb or 3.9+ ghz for 24/7.

http://forums.anandtech.com/messageview...atid=28&threadid=1947261&enterthread=y <-- provides all steps on what you would need to overclock C2D as well as build suggestions.

??????? That one is For the Books.... Mine works just Fine and has tons of Headspace..... when you make a statement like that it truly makes me wonder.....

My Xeon 3060 is very happy @ 3.4 & 3.6 Ghz..... and i'm sure 3.8 if I wanted to go there ... but it is new and i'm not jumping in too fast...

I have that MOBO he speced.... But I have Crucial Memory (2x1024MB PC 6400) and It runs at any speed I set it at upto 1066 after that I'll need to bump the voltage... but i'm only running mem at 2.0 v right now and 1.375 on Vcore.....

I'm not wild about OCZ but they are better than some.... but not on the A-List.

The OCZ Titanium stuff is as good as anything on the market right now, including the Corsair C3's, Cellshocks, or Team xTreem 3-3-3-8. The OCZ Ti and Cellshocks actually use D9GKX which is a better IC, but the reason manufacturers have chosen not use it, is it is about 2x more than D9GMH. They are just binning D9GMH to higher specs. Its all in volts too. The reason they are hitting such high clocks is all of these memories are warrantied to 2.45 volts. Almost all D9GKX or D9GMH sticks are going to be able to hit DDR2-800 3-4-3-9 or DDR-1100 Cas 4 at 2.45-2.55 volts. Just is going to create an unbelievable amount of heat on some. That is what binning is for. Also if you can't hit those it is usually the motherboard as the I975x is a very hard motherboard to tweak in low timings or fsb:Dram ratios.

Sorry for not editing? I corrected myself in the following post.
