Isn't the standard caloric intake between 2000 and 2500 calories?

eat more...but eat healthily.

Also, how old are you?

I couldn't gain weight until I hit 29 years of age. Until then, I was 5' 8 1/2" and 129lbs. Now, I'm at 152 (down from 170...thanks to Atkins)

How about eating some real food! I usually try for 4-500 calories per meal and 4-5 meals a day.

If you are past your prime growing period, you need to do more than simply "eat more" to gain the correct type of weight.

I am 22, 6' tall, and weigh 140lbs. My BMI is between 19 and 20.

That simply is where my body hovers at. If I eat 'alot', I simply gain weight in terms of fat around my abs.

Your BMI is 17.8, so I agree you might want to put on a little weight. Have you habitually ate very little over the past few years?

I did a quick calculation for your body size, and it shows that you need somewhere around 1,650 calories per day. However, this is a very rough estimation. This is assuming you are a guy, who is between lightly active, and sedimentary (basically I added on 40% calories to your bodys need).

So if this is close to what you body needs, eating 1830 calories should net you some extra lbs. But pay attention to how your body stores them. Are they simply converting to fat in trouble areas? (Abs, for instance.)

If so, you are going to need to do some strength training + extra protein/calories to gain some mass correctly.

about 18xx calories is what you need to mantain your weight. To gain about 2 lbs a week which u want to do nothing more Id go and do something called a clean bulk.

Eat about 2500-3000 calories a day. Your diet would look something like this.

Meal 1

cup of oatmeal
2 eggs, and egg whites
piece of whole wheat bread.

Meal 2

Yogurt
tuna sandwich

Meal 3

some fruit is good
brown rice etc.

Meal 4

Chicken or lean meat
Eat some green veggies here

Meal 5

cottage cheese
cup of peanuts etc

Thats a clean bulk diet. YOu'll have to add more in but u want to eat about 23x your body weight in calories.

107lbs*23=2461 calories

Best thing to do is workout during this though when bulking you could add muscle easily as mucle needs extra calories...

I dunno best thing to do.

I'm suffering from the same problem, and I've been trying to do something about it, but I can't seem to manage.

I drink a litre of chocolate milk every day and my dinner often consists of a pack of fresh pasta which is 4 servings :)
The milk is about 600 calories alone and the pasta are about 1000 calories total. With what I eat the rest of the day, I get around 2500-3000 calories, and I can't gain weight.
My metabolism runs at an accelerated rate, which is most likely your problem also. We need a diet that's at least twice the caloric content of what most people eat, otherwise we burn all the calories without effort.

Hey! Where'd you get my breakfast plan! :)

Seriously though, that's exactly what I eat for breakfast... nothing more, nothing less.

What kind of food do you consider real? I can't really avoid my dinner since I'm asian and we eat rice in the house. I'm full after each meal but I get hungry quickly...what I eat is fine I think but I need to increase the frequency of meals. So I need some ideas on that...

No no no no no your lunch is aweful, yes you do want more calories to get bigger, but do it while still being healthy, lots of protein, eat roast beef sandwiches or something at lunch with cheese and a glass of (chocolate) milk
