YAMusicT: Old 8/16/32bit era gaming music?

Sweet, took several of these into the mp3 player already.

I'm trying to look for a souped up version of Bison, Balrog Stage (US names) from SF2 but I can't find a good one, only the bland sounding ones.

My absolute favorite when it comes to remix. It's amazing how alike the remixs are when compared to the originals. If anyone has or knows where I can find the complete Unlimited edition, it would be awesome. Project Majestic Mix has some cool remixes.

Secret of Mana OST

Looks like this user has a decent selection of OST's as well.

Sonic CD is pretty fun to listen to.

Interesting stuff.

I suppose its obvious I enjoy remixed versions of music so I suppose I might as well post..

I have a breakbeat remix album of his somewhere, I just can't seem to find any of the shorts.

If anyone knows of other dope remix stuff that I've missed would definitely like to hear it.

Lots if old nostalgic stuff, damn gameboy tetris.. I even installed crusader series / UT on an old rig just to hear it once more.

Interesting choice of tunes, Ruby. Never realized pinball machines had music - maybe I was too focused on beating the game.

If that wasn't enough my goal was to beat the machine so I could hear all of the music and effects. Then I'd go back home and play it on my Kurzweil, Prophet, and Yamaha synths. 😀

I never cared too much for PC game music in the 80s myself.

Probably because I was more of a pinball wizard. My favs from the '80s:

Gottlieb:

Hollywood Heat - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PS-NJdU8tjc&

Williams:

High Speed - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=h3vqUcO9n0A

F14 Tomcat - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aRAXMyfxQ1A

I used to love playing F14 Tomcat. At the pizza place, we'd stay til 4 or 5 in the morning sometimes playing that game. The vendor that put the pinball machine in was nice enough to not set the tilt at a super-sensitive level, allowing for a little body language to be added to the game. Another favorite was Haunted House, again, without a sensitive tilt. Unfortunately, a coworker used a little too much body language & the backboard on the game came crashing down onto the front of the game. (Someone apparently didn't set it up correctly.) The walls next to where a pinball machine was set up still bare the scars of vigorous gameplay. Nothing like using Newton's first law to our advantage. Ball's going straight down the center? Move the pinball machine over an inch. 🙂

Chrono Trigger - "To Far Away Times":

The Chrono Symphonic vocal version is pretty good (available for free download at OCRemix):

My second fave would have to be the Enhasa/Kingdom of Zeal theme:

Really has an ethereal, dream-like quality to it.

Pretty much the whole Chrono Trigger soundtrack is fantastic.

I also like a few of the other SNES RPGs, like Tales of Phantasia, FF3, Secret of Mana, Seiken Densetsu 3, Super Mario RPG, and a few other games.

For Genesis, all the Sonic games (Sonic 2 and Sonic & Knuckles being the best).

For 32 bit, I would have to say the FF8 soundtrack. Particularly "Balamb Garden, "Waltz for the Moon", and "Fithos Lusec Wecos Vinosec" (is that the actual title?).

If you are doing cardio, most of the battle music from the games I mentioned work pretty well.

Mine is from OMF2097

Great game. When playing PvP we had to ban the javelin and whoever the most agile/speedy character there was (forget the name).

I always liked the flail, but the Javelin with max speed was insane.

Brought up in Rubycon's thread, I still hum the theme to Loom, as well as to Lemmings and Comanche II.

I will try to dig up links for the audio when I am home.

Cheater! 😛

The original purpose of the TILT switch was to detect a player LIFTING the machine to keep the ball on the playboard so it never reached the flippers! 😱 Then they got somewhat greedy and added additional switches to increase sensitivity. Some machines are so damn sensitive that just a TINY shove forfeits the ball!

I agree the better ones let you really shove and push the machine quite a bit to keep the ball in the bumpers or as you said to avoid losing it down the middle.

I also enjoyed new builds or refreshed parts where the flippers were so strong the ball frequently hit the glass! And of course the sound of the solenoid banging every time a new play was won - either by matching at the end, specials, or just points. I flipped the score on High Speed several times and remember a token lasting for hours. Attracted quite the crowd too as they were not too many girl players. 😉

I love pinball machines, but despise the newer ones that lack physical plungers.
