YAMT: scalp pain/headache, what is it?

it's rare, but sometimes i wake up with an area of my scalp hurting. usually it doesn't hurt a lot but there are spikes of sharper pain, (i think) esp. when i use the muscles on my head. it goes away in a day or two. it feels like the patch of skin is bruised or something.

i'm having it right now and the pain spikes are pretty distracting.

anybody know what this is?
 
it's not a major problem though. happens very infrequently. i just want to know what it is.

my dad says he gets the same thing and he's fine. he says it's from the skin pressed too tightly against the pillow for too long but i'd like to hear it from more people.
