There's no such thing as going overboard on gear. The ability to walk away from a crash trumps everything else, including others' opinions.

one shoei helmet = my entire budget for gear

depends on your climate too. Alpinestars TZ-1 is what I used to have, along with Alpinestars pants. The jacket was pushing $300, and the pants were like $130ish.



WELL worth it. Compared to my friends gear (JR, teknik, fieldsheer, etc) mine felt much better. the armor was much more protective and the leather/material was thicker and stitched better
