YAMT: Looking to buy an old bike, recommendations

Looking for a street bike, for around 1000 dollars. Maybe over maybe under. Have found a few from time to time that are in decent shape age being anywhere from 1976-1986

Wondering if there are any old models I could get cheap that are known to be fairly reliable. Don't want anything too big. Bike will be used for city driving and short( under 50 mile ) trips on the highway, with the occasional road trip in there.

local msf course I am looking at offers a basic maintenence course for a few mor dollars after the msf is over with. Figure on checking that out

Older GS500E's (1989 - 1994) and older GS450/550/400 can be got for that price range. Older CB400 Rebel 400 can be got too. Older Kawasaki LTD500 cruisers can be got for that price. You can get an Older Nighthawk 250/400 for that price too.

they are all older bikes that hve been around for a while and are very reliable.
