YAMT: Linear Algebra..Simple (?) problem

"Show that the midpoint of the line segment joining the points (a,b) and (c,d) is ((a+c)/2, (b+d)/2)."

Of course it's obvious that this is the case..but I'm not clear as to how they want me to "show" this. By graphing, measuring distance..or what?😕

maybe there's some sort of theorom...

draw right angle triangle with two points plus the right angle
chop the shorter sides in half (horizontal and vertical)
draw lines from the halfway points to the long side (they should meet at the halfway point yah?)
use a little algebra to show that the two halves of the long side are the same length

good luck I haven't done that in a while, this is just my best guess
