YAMT: how do I get serious corrosion off of aluminum?

Does anyone know of a simple way to remove years and years of corrosion from aluminum? My carbs are in sad shape. I have to rebuild them anyway, and thought that if I could get them really squeaky clean I could get them anodized so that they would stay looking good for a while.

Thank you!

If it was anything else, I'd blast it. Don't think I'd want to do that to a set of carbs though. Are you talking that white oxidation crap, or just dirty gunk?

I'd assume thats what he means. Corrosion = aluminum oxide = white.

I'd just use a scrubby pad and buff it out, unless we're talking about hard to reach internals here.

Nope, no internals, but there are lots of tiny crannies.

I may try bead-blasting or just plain dropping them in a vibratory cleaner (I reload, so as it happens I have a tumbling cleaner... it may be large enough for one at a time)
