so i went to guitar center and checked out the yamaha electronic drum set and they look nice. of course i can't get the acoustic set b/c i am in an apartment.

any ATOT drummer want to chime in or am i going to be wasting my $$? looking to take up some new hobby away from computers. 🙂

are you just starting out playing drums? need more details. electronic drumsets are sweet as you can do so much with them. i have an acoustic set in my apartment but i have special heads so as to not get the police called on me. if you have the money to throw down on an electronic set... more power to you

they're pretty cool, especially the high end ones that actually have soft heads that simulate a real drum instead of just a pad that you whack on. they'd be good for practicing at home or if you want to trigger lots of samples. but you wouldn't want to play one on stage unless you like people laughing at you. 😉

ROLAND V-Drums get used on lots of music releases. I've seen them used with good success in some different groups (electronica and ethnic), but you need to have good stage mons or IEMs with butt shakers for live.

confirmed. how much are looking to spend?
i'm not very comfortable on an electric set but then i've been playing acoustic sets for 10 years.
