Red bumps right behind the ear? They might just be clogged pores that have become infected. I'd leave them be and see if they go away in about a week. If they don't, go see a doctor.

Well...i'd just watch it and see what happens. You said you tried to pop it with a needle? Maybe put neosporin on it or something so it doesn't get infected.

:camera:s?

They need to be sliced open and the contents drained. I know there's a technical/medical term for this, but it escapes me.

Something like "evacuation and cleaning" or somethign like that. I had one behind my left ear.

I had my GF (who used to be an ER Tech) slice it open with a scalpel, clean it out and bandage it up. It's/I'm fine after that.

You can't do it yourself b/c you can't see it. DO NOT try it yourself. I have a high tolerance for pain...I slice my own callouses off my hammertoes...etc.

Try to hold out until your insurance kicks in. Ibuprofen is an anti-inflammatory...that might help. :)

Basically, you stuck unsterile needle in there, so now you have 2 infected bumps behind your ear.

Its probbally just a zit.

MichaelD, she must have been more then an ER tech. That is way out of her scope of care. Unless she worked at one of those cool ER's where the MD doesn't really care if you breach your scope.

When I do my own self-surgeries, I clean the area thoroughly with alcohol first. I also clean all blades/pins with alcohol too. A LOT of it. *pours the whole bottle and scrubs*

Afterwards, I pour more alcohol directly into the wound...burns like hell, but I'll wager it killls everything....then I cover with Bacitracin and bandage.

oh yeah americans have no health care system... well if it's not that bad i guess u can wait and see how it goes... don't know what you can do on ur own except taking antibiotics but antibiotics can't be bought without prescription...

that kinda sucks. personally i get skin infections a lot b/c of a skin condition and sometimes it can last quite a few weeks without treatent. in fact i just recovered from a nasty infection behind my ears (impetigo), lasted 3-4 weeks before antibiotics cleared it up in a day
