My favorite techniques are the kimura, kneebars, and the short arm scissors.

Kimura- a keylock that focuses on extending the shoulder joint beyond its normal range of motion. Performed from top or bottom, opponents arm is bent at a right angle and pushed behind them.

Kneebar- a jointlock that can be employed from a variety of positions. It hyperextends the knee using the attackers lower abdominal area as a fulcrum against the knee.

Short arm scissors- a compression technique used against an opponent who is trying to fight out of an armbar attempt. Attacker's outside forearm is turned upward and inserted into the crook of elbow that's being attacked. Attacker then throws their outside leg over the arm they're attacking, and triangle's his own legs. It puts a massive amount of pressure on muscles of their opponent's arm.

Uechi Ryu. My parents put me in it when I was 13 to keep me busy after school. And I guess to have something to do instead of fwapping (which I learned that year).

I loved the discipline and respected the effort it took to adopt (pain, time). I got up to brown belt in less than a year, cuz I went every day (I'm not Chuck Norris).

Anywho, my sister got her ass pinched when we were getting on the bus one morning for school as we were walking down the aisle to our seats....

I ended up chest-kicking the kid with what I learned and got suspended from the bus (lol, and not school). I wasn't allowed to go back to the godo.

Lol, I ended up banging the sister of the dude who I kicked. That was 5 years later, though.

edit: Oh, I thought you meant styles... didn't bother to read you actual post. sry.

Krav Maga

Keeps me in shape, and provides effective no sh!t defense against everything from knives to guns to fighting with one arm disabled while disoriented.

Groin Kick FTW!

Can you dodge bullets, like, matrix style?

Bruce Lee can knock bullets out of the air with his nunchuks! Of course then there's Chuck Norris who just has to laugh at the bullet and it gets embarassed and flies away.

No. But come within arms length and you wouldn't be holding the gun for very long. 😀

My gun is longer than my arms.

I've been into western boxing for a while and am just starting Muay Thai.

I'm not into either one for self defense though, I'm doing it because it's a great workout. If someone wants to fight me, at least I have a better than average chance of kicking their ass if push comes to shove.

Boxing was a great way for me to get over the fear of being punched in the face. It's not that bad once you've done it, and sometimes it even makes me laugh when I do take a shot because it's an instant reminder of why I need to keep my defenses up. My instructor will tell me what I'm doing wrong, and if I continue to do it, he give me a quick shot to the jaw or hook upside the head to bring home the point.

I really enjoy the hell out of it and look forward to it each week.
