I'm simply afraid of dead pixels and some sellers claim 5 is normal and some say up to 15 is normal and they won't replace it. I want zero honestly.

I've gotten a few of the Korean panels. If you want a perfect one, good luck with that. I've been through 4 of them (no catleaps though), and only one seems to be "perfect" (no backlight bleed, good color uniformity, no dead pixels). However, I ended up keeping 3 of them because even the non-perfect ones were pretty good (one has a dead pixel, and the other has significant backlight bleed). The other one had terrible color uniformity, which somehow bothers me a lot more than the other things, so I sold it on craigslist. Definitely would buy again...

From what I hear you have about 10% chance to get absolute terribad.

30% to get a "perfect"

and 60% to get something like a few dead ones, some bleed (not extreme).

Which at 50% the price, is a gamble, but basically "guarantees" you a good monitor if you buy two. (obviously as with all gambling you can loose out)

Keep in mind that even if you get a great screen, the build quality of these panels is craptastic IMHO.

I like nice fit and finish and nothing flimsy.

Yea I thought about recommending the microcenter one, but I haven't been able to find a store with it in stock...

About the build quality, while they're definitely not as good as the other monitors I've had, after I replaced the default stand they became pretty acceptable. Of the ones I own, the shimian seems to have the best overall build quality, followed by the pcbank pb2700 super (the non super version has a TERRIBLE stand though -- it can't even hold its own weight!). Just my opinion though.

Why do people care about backlight bleed? Stop staring at a black screen - problem solved. There are much more important things in the world to worry about.

The backlight bleed doesn't bother me most of time; the only scenario where I really notice it is during movies with dark scenes in them. Even in dark games I don't care because I am too busy shooting things. But bad color uniformity is something that really gets to me because I notice it all the time and it basically doesn't go away no matter what you're doing. Dead pixels aren't that bad if you're not OCD about these things, they are so small anyways and I think I have more "effectively dead" pixels due to not cleaning the screen as often as I should.

Unless you use a Dell 27", Apple Cinema, or a professional monitor, then a Catleap with minor defects will be much better than anything you can buy right now. Mine has minor backlight bleeding with a black screen, but it is so much better than anything I have purchased for under 700 dollars.

1) A 1440p 27" IPS display.
2) A name brand that has strict quality control will let you return a panel with dead pixels.
3) A low price.

Choose any two. If you want 1 and 3 get the Catleap. If you want 1 and 2 get the Apple or the Dell. If you want 2 and 3 then there are many high-res TN displays or 1080p IPS displays that are cheaper.

Refresh rate can be safely assumed to be 60 Hz. The Catleap advertises as going up to 120 Hz, but doesn't seem to be stable.

As for resolution, I am not sure I understand. Its 2560x1440, as its the same set of panels.

Better than any 1920x108, unless you're playing Professionally (and even then FPSes)

i have 2 of the shimians, they have basically 0 input lag because they dont have an inputs besides the DLDVI, the ADboard for multy imputs is what generally causes lag to go up. all the korean ones with just the DL-DVI input should be virtually the same for extreamly low input lag.

ive gamed a bit on mine and dont see an ghosting however i havent played a MP FPS on it yet but i havent seen any issues with D3, Max Payne 3, SC2 or WoW

Zero Dead Pixel Guarantee or Pixel Perfect is a gimmick... some people pay extra for it and still got dead pixels - with the sellers refunding $10 per dead/bright pixel = at over 5 dead pixels its an RMA/Defective panel anyways.
