Nice quality video, thanks man!
I think everyone should ride on track at least once. After riding on the track, the street is almost boring, and I honestly don't even pleasure ride in the evenings anymore. Commuting it about the only use on roads that my bike gets now. :)

So just for that reason, wouldn't it be better that one does not try the track?

I suppose so, you sure won't know what you're missing, that's for sure. But I guess if you can still get excitment from riding on the street, then you'll probably never improve your skills and are pretty content with the monotony. :)
Granted, I live in a province that has one curve in the entire place, so I guess if I lived in NC or the west coast street riding might be a little more enjoyable.

actually i think you'll get better on the bike like RedRooster said, instead of piling up endless highway miles just squaring the tires off. :)

check that forum for any questions. i've heard of people getting them for 7800 OTD and around that. I think dealer invoice is somewhere around 7200 or something like that.

pardon my newb-ness: was the R1 the chase bike and the CBR the bike it was following? or were both bikes R1's, and the CBR was that bike that got passed in like the first few seconds?

Yeah the new CBR's are sweet bikes. It was doing well on that fairly tight track. It would get ownd on a bigger track with longer straights though.

Besides, having too much power on hand is just plain FUN! I luv liter bikes!!!! (and even 900cc ones!)
