It had been randomly turning off for a couple of months but I could always turn it back on until today. It turned off and now it just clicks when I hit the power button on the remote. The button on the receiver has been broken for years. It tries to turn on but just won't.

Suggestions?

BTW you can get a damn nice 5.1 receiver for $200 these days.

If you don't need 3d then look for a year old model and save money too.

Try onecall and look at clearance stuff.

Any particular brand recommendations? I think I'm going to take it to see what a repair bill would be. It's a pretty good receiver.

I have my dvd and cable running through it as well as my tivo. It has no hdmi connections though. Suggestions?

Budget??

It just depends on what features you want. I think any of the major name brand amps will make you happy.

Just search the net looking for good deals and see what you find.

A sony 5.1 for only $169 open box.

If you are looking for a higher end product then get the Onkyo rc270. Can't get a better receiver for the money ($479 via Amazon)

In between those two there are probably 50 name brand receivers you could buy. Just have to figure out what features you want and how much you want to spend.

Budget is as inexpensive as I can find. That Sony sounds good. I'll check their website. I'm gonna see what a repair bill is going to be also.

I doubt even trying to repair it is worth the cost.

How old is it?

Looked ancient based on the pic I found via google. You would probably be so much better off with a new one that has some of the newer features. Just having HDMI would be a huge step up when trying to connect everything together.

It's about 10 years old and you're probably right about replacing it with something newer. That sony does look good with the hdmi connections. Mine doesn't have any.

Write down the model number and then go to bestbuy and see if they have it and check it out in person.

Then come home and order it online and save $$ :)

I did that with my Martin Logan system. Listened to everyone at BestBuy Magnolia and then bought it online and saved big time :)
