Whenever I try to use headphones in the headphone jack on the front of my HTR-6030 receiver, it shows that it's muted and that headphones are plugged in but no audio goes to the headphones.
Can anyone think of any reason for this? (Yes, the headphones work just fine elsewhere)

Is silent cinema shown on the display at some point? The manual says: when you select a sound field program silent cinema mode should activate.

Sound field meaning pop/jazz/stereo/movie/game/etc

When headphones are plugged in the rest of the speakers are muted

Could it have anything at all to do with the headphone jack being broken even though I've never used it before?

Not sure. The receiver detects something in the headphone port, otherwise it wouldn't display silent cinema right?

What headphones are you using?

Just some regular Sennheiser stereo headphones. No adapter or anything. They work in all other jacks on other devices.

the only thing i can think of is either your volume is set too low, or your receiver isn't providing enough power to the headphone port :\. Have any in-ear headphones or earbuds? Might be something worth RMAing for if it's important to you.

For the hell of, try disconnecting all of the speakers and try with headphones again. I had a similar issue with an old Denon receiver once and it was because the speakers were not wired correctly.

No, it's not a volume thing. Something seems wrong.
