Lately I have been having problems with my Yamaha burner. Discs that have been burned with don't want to work in my friend's burner (LG 24x) and won't even work in my Yamaha. On both my box and my friend's, if we use other non-burner drives, the discs are fine. In the Yamaha, the disc will spin up, but will not get recognized. When I try to access the disc in Explorer, i get an error message of "Incorrect Function." This is a new one to me. As well, it has started to not even read retail CDs. Is this a sure sign of the drive dying or is this some sort of OS issue? I highly highly doubt that this is any kind of user error in regards to the burning as I am a very knowledgable person when it comes to burning and probably burn more discs in a month than most people do in six.
My box:
P3 1Ghz
512Mb PC133
Geforce4 MX440
SB Audigy w/LiveDrive!
20Gb IBM Drive
WindowsXP Pro
Nothing is overclocked and I tend to clean it up and defrag it regularly. All drivers and bios are currently up to date.
