Yamaha CDRW and WinME? Conflict?

There is a Sony CD-Rom, Pioneer DVD, and a Yamaha 20x10x40 EIDE CD-RW (also two 60GB IBM Drives, non RAID). The system is a dual boot configuration using WinME and Win2k Pro. Under Win2K Pro the Yamaha and all other drives detect normally and the Yamaha burns a CD just fine. However under WinME the Yamaha is not detected and the light just stays solid like if it were accessing a cd. Other info: On an ASUS A7M, Thunderbird 1.4GHz, Enermax 430W Power Supply.

Any ideas? Any help would be appreciated.

that's really strange... see if it is configured correctly in the BIOS because diff O/Ses can read same info from the BIOS differently... for example if i want to add a HD in winME and keep my current drive letter config i set primary slave to "none" in the BIOS and ME detects it...

also check for current drivers/bios for the drive itself and install them under ME

also - why 3 "disc" drives in one system? do u copy CDs to CD-R on the fly while watching DVDs?

More like leave my favorite game in the CD Drive, have a DVD ready to go, and burn a CD before showtime.
