I recently purchased a this drive from fry's and have had not so great performance with it. It Seems to write well however, when I read data, it starts spinning really fast and loud, and then it takes a very long time getting the data. for example, when I try to copy a 50 meg file, it spins really fast and goes really slow. Same with trying to install software from it. I've tried enabling DMA but that makes it worse as I end up getting Blue screens (BSOD). So I don't have anymore ideas. If anyone could help me I'd really appreciate it. Thanks.

Are your disks scratched/blurry/damaged in any way? If it is spinning really loudly, make sure you didn't forget to screw in all 4 installation screws. That was a problem with my DVD Drive because I just put in 2 screws diagonal from eachother.
