YALT: I need a lawnmower

It's that time of the year again, and I need a lawnmower. Price range is $400, and yes, I'm flexible on that. I'd prefer a Honda engine over B&S over what I read in previous threads. Yard is average size, a little bit hilly, other than that I don't know any specifics, sorry. Mulching is a must... thanks for looking.

Lowes in my area does not stock Honda mowers, but Home Depot does. I was eyeing a few $400 Hondas, and the new HRX series caught my attention, but the plastic deck seems a bit iffy :/

You buy a new lawnmower every spring? 😕

If the old one won't start after being stored for the winter, try changing the gas and oil in it first before throwing it away. Most lawnmowers can go a good 20 years before dying if they're properly maintained, and even longer with rebuild.

That's what I mean, though. I would recommend a good Honda mower, also. 400$ should get you a damn nice mower. :Q I'd never spend that much on one.. lol

I spent 75$ on a new shortblock and carburetor for our mower, it should last another 10 years easy .. lol
 
Anything specific anyone wants to say? Those HRX mowers look real nice... 6.5 HP, hydrostatic transmission... PLASTIC DECK BLAH

Hah, my $100.00 Sears with a B&S is 22 years old, and still ready to work!
 
i got one of these about a month ago: Husqvarna self-propelled w/ honda engine

for this price!

plus i got it on no interest/payments for 12 months (lowes matched a HD offer, then my wife went back a day later and got the price match with the web price).

I love this mower. Really, really love it. I had a 6.0 HP craftsman non self propelled and it just sucked. Now I like mowing the lawn again.
