YALOTR thread! Gollum nominated as best supporting actor!

Well, could that happen?

I heard Andy Circus (Gollum) on NPR weekend edition this AM, and the possibility that a CG character might one day win an Academy Award was discussed. His contention was that the character interacted with the real actors (Circus was in the scenes with Frodo and Sam, and Gollum "built" around him). So, will this one day happen?

Some actors contend that awards belong to them, not to a construct, no matter how devised.

Edit

By popular request, the poll is "corrected" 😛

Its quite possible Serkis could be nomintated. The studio should push for it, he was a live actor in ROTK. You might say he was only a live actor for a short time, but one actress won best supporting actress with a screentime of 53 seconds. Serkis was in it for over a minute, plus all his other work. He should be nominated for best supporting actor, and he should win. Will it happen? I doubt it.

Am I the only one who thought ROTK was a mediocre movie at best? And yes, I have read/own the books.

After watching the Gollum special which came with the TTT extended edition then if anything andy and all the people working on goolum deserve the oscar for best supporting actor more than any oscar winners in the past

He should. Not only did he do the voice, but he did most of the motions as well. Gollum used plenty of motion capture to film his part.

Ack! It should be:

-Yes he should, and he will
-Yes he should, but he won't

-No he shouldn't, but he will
-No he shouldn't, and he won't
