Basic workings in cliffs (to protect the person)
15 year old female in Wisconsin
Lives with father in *I believe* joint custody
Father uses her roughly $400 a month Social Security check to pay mortgage on his house.
Father does not take proper care of her (she is becoming malnourished and in a non-peaceful home)
Father has allowed an 18YO male (Girlfriend's son) to live in the house. Has been in prison for 3 DUIs. Girl sees the male doing weed but father ignores her.
Female no longer feels safe at home.
Female tells father she wishes to leave and live with her grandmother (on her mother's side).
Girlfriend of father (who is married) curses female, fight ensues, female leaves with her mother.
Female is taken to grandmother's in another town.
Father wants her to come back, says the law is on his side and she has no choice.
She is worried her father might harm her or the 18YO male.
What rights does the minor have? Can she choose who to live with even if it's not a biological parent? Or can she say she wishes to live with her mother instead?
Thank you all for the help.
