So I was contemplating buying L4D the other day and I decided against buying it until the price dropped below $40. Today, I decide to go into the Steam Store for kicks and giggles, and lo and behold...

Buy Left 4 Dead - Four Pack - $149.99
Includes four copies of Left 4 Dead - Send the extra copies to your friends

This works out to approximately $38 per copy of L4D.

Now, being an AT-addict, the first thing I thought of was a sort of AT Group Buy, if you will... I bet there's way more than four people itching to buy this game who don't have it already. I'm not sure if it's against the rules here, but I was wondering if there was a way to work this out between AT members. Spread the community spirit, you know.

SO WHO'S WITH ME?

If you're taking that risk (getting someone to give you CD keys and pooling money), you might as well find some people in the UK who are willing to order multiple copies from Amazon.co.uk and send you the CD key, since the unit price from there is only $30.

Yup, did it with someone else in the thread. Not bad for $37.50 no tax. Buying it at the stores with tax makes it almost near the pre-order price.

Saw this in the other thread, and is an awesome idea. I'm recommending it to my friends interested in the game who didn't already do the preorder and already have it.

Would be awesome if Valve somehow made it possible for 3 friends to pool their proof of full price purchase to be able to give a game to someone else they can all agree on...

No group buys. Sorry, but these deals have been costly to our members from both honest mistakes and outright fraud.

From the Hot Deals forum rules. I suggest getting this together with some of your real-life friends if you want to do this. While I'm sure the OP's intentions are true, it is against the rules because it has gone sour too many times in the past.
