i heard it on ESPN i think, apparently some people believe that this incident may actually increase Street Cred for Kobe.

I'm not sure. I think AI and KG got street cred for being more "hip-hop" and "thug-like".

I don't think being charged with rape will have the same effect.

Now, if Kobe started hanging out with Master P, had corn rows, and got more tatoos......i think he'd get more street "cred".

I don't think approachability has anything to do with "street cred." Kobe will never have it because he didn't grow up in those neighborhoods or lived the same life that people like Iverson, etc. did. Kobe will always look like a poser.

he tried wearing thos thug type clothes and well it didn't fit him. cmon this guy grew up in italy... has no visible tatoos and previously had no run ins with the law. i don't know why having street cred would make people buy shoes more because i think its absurd... but kobe shouldve stuck with the Michael Jordan 'armani' stuff all along.
