(Yet Another?) Knitting Thread

I spend a lot of time on hold, or waiting around for one thing or another. Thinking of taking up knitting. Probably no complex than playing gameboy? Is there any really Masculine way to knit? Or should I just go whole hog and start doing pink booties, or whatever it is that people knit?

Seems to me that if anyone makes non-masculine comments I have a couple of sharp pointy weapons handy to correct that.

knitting pattern 1 "romantic lingerie set"

knitting pattern 2 "corselette top with tap-pant bottom"

I smell skoorb effect here. Think about it, asking for knitting advice on a tech forum full of cynics, nerds, and insecure geeks?

at least knit something more useful, like table cloth or towels, at least that way you can play it off as you being cheap :)

you could knit a monitor cozie (sp?) or something to cover your mouse when you're not using it, or if you have an optical mouse, maybe a mousepad (by the way, did anyone ever try using one of those on carpet? awesome) , or perhaps maybe those underwear with a quake 3 logo on them in the front.

I learned to knit in grade school. I haven't really done it since but the projects we started with were a coozie (I don't know how to spell that either), then a hat, and then socks. The hat was actually pretty cool if a bit useless in really windy weather.

I think knitting is a pretty good thing to do if you want to keep your hands busy. The process is fairly rewarding as you see the fruits of your labor right before your eyes. You also see the annoyances of poor skill but hey, whatcha gonna do but work on getting better. You can always just yank the yarn to undo the last couple hours of work!

The best thing to do would be to dress in drag and hit up stich 'n bitch (do a google on that) ;).

Wouldn't the "YA" tag imply a knitting thread previous to this one?
If so I challenge someone to find it. No reward, just another good laugh like this one.
